Nordic Noir Night

Medlemspris: 0 kr kr
Have you ever wondered what characterizes the NORDIC NOIR that surrounds Scandinavia? Have you heard about Scandinavian design items, books about “hygge” and Nordic crime fiction? And now that you’re in Aarhus, have you thought about whether there actually is something specifically ‘nordic’ about the Scandinavian cultural products - or is it just a brand and a cultural cliché?
Join us for a truly Scandinavian night of uncanny hygge where we will guide you through the Scandinavian crime genre with detective games, a quiz and coffee as black as the moonless night.
We guarantee you a both “hyggelig” and spooky evening with lots of strong black detective coffee, recommendations for your next crime novel must-read, a fun detective game and quiz to round off the night. And who knows - maybe we’ll also get the answer to why all Danes wear black and never talk to strangers on the bus.
We’ll introduce the Scandinavian crime genre and dive into questions such as: why does the female protagonist always need to be both intelligent, masculine and strong at the same time? And why are the people of Scandinavia obsessed with crime fiction, portraying gruesome murders while living in a welfare state with very low crime rates?
Hope to see as many of you as possible – and feel free to bring your friends and buddies!
The event will take place at Studenterhuset on Tuesday the 23rd of October
7.30pm - 9.30 pm
Location: Student House Aarhus: “Multirummet” in the basement (opposite the Unibar)
